The general road traffic census will begin on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the national level, under the coordination of CNAIR and CESTRIN.
The action aims to collect essential data for the planning and development of transport infrastructure, according to Normative AND 557/2025. The data will be obtained both through automated methods and manually, at strategically established recording points. The objectives of the census include determining the intensity and composition of road traffic, updating transport demand indices, and substantiating investments in infrastructure. The recordings will take place on April 21, April 27, May 10, July 24, August 9, August 29, October 3, October 22, and November 6.
On May 20, continuous recording will take place for 24 hours.
CNAIR emphasizes that the process will not affect traffic flow, and the results will be used to update technical road databases and to assess environmental impact.
