Bogdan Ivan, the Minister of Energy, clarified that Romania does not provide free energy to the Republic of Moldova, presenting data from the SPOT market which shows that energy is traded at prices higher than those of imports. For example, in July, Romania sold energy at 127 euros/MWh, after importing it at 104 euros/MWh. He also mentioned the measures taken by the Moldovan Government to reduce prices for consumers, such as subsidies and the elimination of VAT. The data shows that energy exports to Moldova and Ukraine are higher and more expensive than imports.
