During an event, Minister Bogdan Ivan was asked about the Lukoil crisis and possible increases in fuel prices. He stated that Romania has sufficient fuel reserves and that the local refinery has unused capacity, which makes any price increase unjustified. The government is collaborating with several ministries to adapt international sanctions to national legislation and to minimize the impact on the economy.
Ivan mentioned that several companies, including MOL and Carlyle, are interested in acquiring Lukoil's assets, and the company's debts to the state amount to hundreds of millions of lei. Nationalization is not excluded, but the final decision will be made after assessing the situation. The minister emphasized that any price increase is unjustified and that the Ministry of Energy has reduced the number of occupied positions by 13% to comply with government requirements.
