Bogdan Ivan, the Minister of Energy, stated that Romania is facing some of the highest energy prices in Europe and called for concrete solutions at the European level. During the Central and South-Eastern Europe Energy Connectivity (CESEC) meeting, which was also attended by the European Commissioner for Energy, Dan Jørgensen, Ivan emphasized the need for investments in base load production capacities, including hydro, gas, and nuclear, as well as the modernization of transport networks and smart storage.
