Energy Minister Dumitru Chisăliță called at the European level for transparent tariff rules, infrastructure investment and measures to reduce energy costs ahead of the winter of 2026–2027. Romania called for common policies to take into account the specific characteristics of national systems and their impact on households, industry and public budgets.
Romania advocated the efficient use of grids, the development of interconnections and storage, and the diversification of supply routes. The minister also called for a review of the European framework on energy security, with a focus on climate risks and infrastructure resilience, following the experience of this summer’s drought.
In the debate on the post-2030 period, Chisăliță supported technological neutrality and the recognition of nuclear energy and renewable sources as complementary pillars. Romania called for funding for grids, nuclear capacity, storage and low-emission technologies, as well as energy-efficiency targets that do not limit industrial development.
The minister also underlined the importance of refineries for fuel supply security. At the same time, Romania supported the development of infrastructure for CO₂ capture and storage, but called for operators’ obligations to be proportionate and backed by European funding. Bucharest reaffirmed its support for the Republic of Moldova and its integration into the European energy market.
