Dumitru Chisăliță, the new Energy Minister, announced his priorities on Wednesday after taking over the position from former Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, who had served as acting head of the ministry. In the immediate period ahead, the minister said he would focus on the measures needed for Romania to get through the cold season and on protecting vulnerable consumers.
Chisăliță said he aims to identify concrete solutions to combat energy poverty, a problem affecting low-income households with limited ability to pay their bills.
The new minister announced a practical approach based on data and dialogue with energy-sector specialists, trade unions and civil society representatives. According to him, ministry decisions must take into account the problems directly faced by consumers.
In the long term, Chisăliță aims to increase energy-generation capacity, accelerate investment and develop a balanced energy mix supported by diversified storage solutions. The minister emphasized that these objectives depend on cooperation, continuity and ongoing dialogue with organizations and specialists in the field.
