The modernization project of locomotives 481-016 'King Ferdinand I' and 481-017 'Carol Davila' aims to bring them to modern European standards, both in terms of performance and safety. Softronic emphasizes the importance of integrating current systems for efficient operation on the railway network, including on international routes.
Locomotive 481-016 evokes the figure of King Ferdinand I, an essential leader in the achievement of the Great Union and in the consolidation of modern Romania, while 481-017 pays tribute to Carol Davila, the founder of modern medical education in Romania. Softronic has obtained funding of 32 million euros from Banca Transilvania for the modernization of 19 electric locomotives, as part of a 100 million euro contract, part of the modernization and rolling stock acquisition program, financed through PNRR. The first modernized train entered service on the Bucharest North – Constanța route a year ago.
