The Romanian government, through Deputy Prime Minister Oana Gheorghiu, proposes to establish order in the state's property policy, considering that there are approximately 185 completely inactive companies, with accumulated losses of 14 billion lei. Gheorghiu presented an initial list of 22 companies in the energy and transport sectors, which will be analyzed to determine their viability. The project is coordinated by AMEPIP, which deals with the governance of state-owned companies. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the importance of a thorough analysis to identify the causes of the losses and to decide whether the companies should be closed or recapitalized. Some companies are already in bankruptcy or liquidation, and the state must decide what role to play in these businesses. Gheorghiu mentioned that privatization could be an option, but it must be carefully evaluated.
