The Railway Reform Authority (ARF) announced that the first interregional electric train set RE-IR2, built by PESA in Poland, will arrive in Romania at the end of September 2025. It will be subjected to testing and certification according to European and national legislation. The project, valued at over 919 million lei, includes the acquisition of 20 electric train sets, which will operate on various routes in Romania, thus facilitating electric rail transport.
