CFR SA announced that the international IRN 461 “Romania” train was stranded on the Giurgiu-Ruse bridge after a locomotive problem

The international train IRN 461 “România” remained stranded on Sunday on the Giurgiu-Ruse railway bridge after the locomotive suffered a technical failure. The train had crossed the border and was in Bulgarian territory when it was stopped.

According to CFR SA, the train departed from Giurgiu Nord station at 13:27 and continued its journey until after crossing the border. The intervention of a maintenance team was necessary to inspect the locomotive and remedy the problem.

“The technical intervention is being carried out in Bulgarian territory, with the train set to continue its journey after the checks have been completed and the technical problem remedied,” CFR SA stated.

The resumption of the journey depends on the completion of the intervention and the locomotive being returned to operational condition. CFR SA will communicate further information regarding the train’s operation and any possible changes to its route.
