A fire broke out on Sunday, September 6, at around 2:30 p.m., in the locomotive of a train operated by CFR S.A., located at Buftea railway station, on track 4. The train consisted of dosing wagons used to transport crushed stone. For the safe intervention of the firefighters, the electrification system was temporarily de-energized on both running tracks along the Periș–Chitila section. The measure is necessary to protect the crews and eliminate the electrical risk in the affected area.
Firefighting crews are intervening at the scene, while CFR S.A.’s specialized personnel are monitoring the situation. Rail traffic on the Periș–Chitila route is temporarily affected and will remain restricted until the intervention is completed and the technical conditions for re-energizing the contact line are met. After the fire is extinguished, CFR specialists will carry out the necessary checks to assess the infrastructure and resume traffic under normal conditions. The company has not specified, as of yet, the cause of the fire or whether any victims or damage were reported.
