The European Union reacted after Russian drones entered Romanian airspace last week, summoning the chargé d'affaires of Moscow to Brussels.
The spokesperson for the head of EU diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, stated that this act represents a "deliberate violation" of Romania's sovereignty, describing it as an "imprudent act" that escalates tensions and threatens the security of European citizens.
Kallas also proposed additional sanctions against Russia in the context of these incursions, as well as following an attack that damaged the honorary consulate of Latvia in eastern Ukraine.
Furthermore, Romania and Latvia "have our full solidarity and support," the spokesperson added.
