The Minister of Environment, Waters and Forests, Diana Buzoianu, announced that starting from March, all directors from the 11 Water Basin Administrations and from the National Institute of Hydrology and Water Management will have clear performance indicators.
These indicators will include objective criteria for better organization, coordination capacity, rapid response in emergency situations, and the efficiency of inspections. Among the essential objectives are the rapid issuance of regulatory acts, effective interventions in case of emergencies, optimization of investments in hydraulic works, and responsible management of water resources. Additionally, there will be an emphasis on digitalization and the integration of artificial intelligence to prevent flood risks. Buzoianu emphasizes that the reform aims to transform Apele Române into a modern and efficient institution, oriented towards citizens.
