The Council Tower, a symbol of Sibiu, will be rehabilitated in the next 24 months, after Mayor Astrid Fodor signed a contract with the association Decorint SRL & Domino Construct Expert SRL, worth 9.27 million lei, from European funds. The project aims to preserve the authenticity of the historical monument, which dates back to the 12th century, and to improve its functionality for visitors. The works include restoring the facades, replacing the carpentry, repairing the roofing, cleaning the masonry, restoring the floors, and renovating the stairs. Additionally, the clock mechanism will be rehabilitated, an ambient lighting system will be installed, and a fire protection system will be implemented. The project will make the Tower more accessible, with information in Braille and an audio guide, as well as a virtual tour for people with disabilities. This rehabilitation will not only enhance the aesthetics of the monument but will also contribute to attracting tourists.
