Brașov City Hall is repairing Strada Sforii, which has been closed for nearly a year due to falling plaster

Strada Sforii in Brașov, closed for almost a year due to the risk of plaster and cornice elements becoming detached, will undergo safety works. Brașov City Hall has signed a contract worth 2,110,641 lei, excluding VAT, with DNS Efect SRL.

The intervention aims to eliminate the danger of the accidental collapse of elements from the buildings bordering the street. The contract was awarded through negotiation without the prior publication of a participation notice, with the authorities citing the urgent nature of the works.

Access to Strada Sforii was closed on November 18, 2025, after warning tape was installed at both ends, signaling an imminent danger. Municipal specialists estimated at the time that the street could be reopened by the spring of this year, but the deadline was not met.

The street is approximately 80 meters long and 111 centimeters wide, and is considered the third-narrowest street in Eastern Europe.

Documented since the 17th century, it was renovated in 2018. In the following years, the walls were affected by graffiti drawings and various messages.
