The construction site at Constanța Bridge will be closed around October 15, after the contractor intensified its activity and also worked over the weekend, Bucharest City Hall announced on Monday. The reopening is being expedited because traffic is currently moving on one lane in each direction in a heavily trafficked area.

The works are part of Lot 4, nearly eight kilometers long, included in the project to modernize the transport infrastructure. The lot is on schedule and has a general completion deadline of 2027.

Workers have installed the sleepers and rails and the alignment systems, which bring the rail to the level of the asphalt. These are measured and fixed with millimetric precision both in height and in relation to each other.

Two layers of concrete and two more layers of asphalt will then be poured.

Lot 4 includes areas on Mihalache Boulevard, Griviței Road, Bucureștii Noi Boulevard, Gloriei Boulevard, and several adjacent streets.

Bucharest City Hall also announced a separate project to widen the opening of the underpass beneath Constanța Bridge. A feasibility study will be commissioned for this, followed by expropriations and the tender for design and construction. The construction site is expected to open in 2028.
