Bucharest City Hall announces that five companies have submitted bids for the reconstruction of Calicilor Bridge and the modernization of the Dâmbovița riverbanks between Unirii Square and Izvor Bridge. The bids will be evaluated within no more than 60 days, and the contract could be signed in December 2026. The works could subsequently begin and would be completed in 2028.

The bridge will be rebuilt from scratch and will provide a pedestrian connection between Șelari Street and Sfinții Apostoli Street, in the area of the Palace of Justice and Domnița Bălașa Church. The structure will be 32 meters long and 23 meters wide, while the construction period is estimated at 10 months.

The project also includes the modernization of approximately 11,000 square meters of riverbanks. Suspended pedestrian platforms, a viewing area at Izvor, pedestrian crossings, a rehabilitated landing stage and a 1.2-meter-wide bicycle lane will be developed. Green spaces will be preserved and expanded, while public lighting, urban furniture and accessibility for people with disabilities will be improved.

The works on the riverbanks are estimated to take 18 months. The total contract value is 63.96 million lei, excluding VAT, equivalent to more than €12 million.
