The Chamber of Deputies has adopted a bill initiated by PNL deputy Alina Gorghiu, which eliminates the judicial stamp tax for victims of domestic violence who wish to divorce or to make a division of property. The law, which is set to be promulgated by President Nicușor Dan, aims to remove financial barriers that prevent women from breaking away from their abusers and starting a new life in safety. Gorghiu emphasized that freedom should not be conditioned by costs and that many victims remain trapped due to economic dependency.

The law is part of a broader package of measures aimed at providing economic independence and protection for victims of domestic violence, including subsidies for employers who hire victims, rent assistance, and vouchers for vulnerable mothers. Gorghiu highlighted the importance of these measures, mentioning that the state must support victims before it is too late, promoting dignity and access to justice.
