The Chamber of Deputies voted on Wednesday for a law that proposes support measures for the parents and legal guardians of children with Down syndrome or autism spectrum disorders. The bill provides for the granting of medical services and psychological counseling, with costs reimbursed from the state budget.
Parents will benefit from psychological counseling services in specialized units, as well as palliative care for diagnosed individuals. Deputy Raluca Turcan emphasized the importance of this support, mentioning that parents face daily challenges.
Although USR Deputy Emanuel Ungureanu appreciated the initiative, he expressed concern that there are not enough funds for its implementation. The law, which has been adopted by the Chamber of Deputies, will now be sent to the president for promulgation.
