A legislative initiative submitted by USR parliamentarians provides for the allocation of at least 5 budgeted places in higher education for young people with special educational needs (SEN) who are not classified as having a disability.
Senator Adelina Dobra emphasized that the needs of these young people continue after obtaining their high school diploma, and equitable access to education is essential for their inclusion in society. The measure aims to increase the participation rate of graduates with SEN in higher education, reducing the risk of educational and social exclusion, and facilitating integration into the labor market.
Senator Cătălin Măndru mentioned that the proposal rectifies an injustice in the Romanian educational system, ensuring continuity between high school and university. Inclusive education is considered an obligation of the Romanian state, and the initiative contributes to providing real chances for young people who need educational support.
