Cristian Anton, the current head of the Romanian Road Authority (ARR) and former chief of staff for Sorin Grindeanu, has been placed in preventive detention after the Cluj Tribunal accepted the proposal from DNA prosecutors.

He is accused of bribery, forming an organized criminal group, and using information not intended for publicity. During the searches conducted at his home, investigators found approximately 500,000 euros, part of the money being hidden in shoe boxes. The corruption case involves 12 individuals, including Anton, who allegedly received bribes between 600 and 1,500 euros to facilitate the fraudulent promotion of exams for professional certifications. Anton was detained after hearings at the DNA headquarters, and the charges include continuous bribery. Prosecutors claim that he coordinated a network for exam fraud, and recordings from his apartment show him counting large sums of money. The arrest decision is not final, and the case continues to be investigated by the authorities.
