The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, declared that admissions in five hospitals in Prahova County are suspended due to the drinking water crisis. The affected hospitals are the Municipal Hospital of Câmpina, the Voila Psychiatric Hospital, the Florești Pneumophthisiology Hospital, the Băicoi Town Hospital, and the Breaza Pneumology Hospital. The minister emphasized that a hospital without water is considered non-functional, but the closure of these facilities is not being considered. Currently, 378 patients are hospitalized in these units, and the medical staff numbers 1,260 employees.
To cope with the situation, the minister requested emergency hospitals in Bucharest to reserve beds for potential transfers. Additionally, the amount of bottled water for the affected hospitals will be increased, with the resumption of drinking water supply estimated by Monday. Rogobete assured that, although the situation is alert, it does not represent a medical emergency, calling for calm among the population. Measures to control nosocomial infections will be implemented, including accelerated disinfections.
