Prior to the inspection orders at healthcare facilities, Health Minister Alexandru Rogobete asked patients and their relatives to post photos of the meals they received in hospitals on Facebook, so that the quality of the food could be assessed directly and there would be no “cosmetic reports.” He said he wanted both positive examples and images showing real problems, and in negative cases he asked managers to eat alongside patients exactly the food distributed to them.
At the same time, Rogobete had also announced a national program to reduce hospital-acquired infections, which was to be subjected to decision-making transparency procedures and directly fund healthcare facilities. The initiative targeted the purchase of disinfectants, sterilization equipment, and protective equipment for staff as well as for patients’ relatives, while the plan included expanding a national infection registry previously tested at the „Grigore Alexandrescu” Children’s Hospital.
