A survey conducted after President Donald Trump's State of the Union address revealed that only 31% of viewers trust that the announced economic measures will have a positive effect. 40% of respondents do not believe that Trump can reduce the high cost of living, while 29% have some confidence in his abilities.
The economy was a central theme of the speech, in which Trump blamed the previous administration of Joe Biden for the current economic issues. In response, Virginia Governor Abigail Sparberger criticized the president's lack of action. Another Pew survey showed that 72% of Americans consider economic conditions to be acceptable or poor. Additionally, the audience for Trump's speech decreased by 12 percentage points compared to the previous year, attracting 27.8 million viewers, which is a common trend in the recent history of State of the Union addresses.
