The Olt Valley, known as one of the most dangerous roads in Romania, will have severe traffic restrictions from March 16 to June 15, 2026, due to safety works on the slopes.
These works include clearing the slopes, controlled displacement of unstable rocks, and strengthening the embankments, aiming to increase road safety. The restrictions apply to vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tons on DN7, between Râmnicu Vâlcea and Veștem, especially on the Căciulata - Câinenii Mari section. The circulation of cars will be stopped only in case of imminent dangers, and emergency vehicles will have unrestricted access. Authorities recommend using alternative routes to avoid congestion and suggest planning trips in advance, considering possible delays.
