Recently, senators adopted the 'Online Age Law', which requires minors under 16 to obtain parental consent to create online accounts. The project, initiated by PNL senator Nicoleta Pauliuc, aims to protect children from harmful content, but has been criticized for measures deemed excessive and bureaucratic. The controversial jurist Bogdan Manolea argues that the definition of 'harmful content' is too broad, which could lead to the verification of users' identities. The law will allow parents to request the deletion of their children's accounts and will be implemented by ANCOM. This joins other recent legislative initiatives regarding minors' access to the internet.
