The Ministry of Transport has announced the introduction of an electronic toll system for the Giurgiu-Ruse bridge toll, called 'eTarifGiurgiuPod', which will allow drivers to make online payments before reaching the border crossing point.
State Secretary Horațiu Cosma explained that this system will include dedicated lanes for those who pay online, and the barriers will open automatically if the toll is paid at least three minutes before crossing the bridge. The measure aims to reduce waiting times and congestion at the counters, especially during the summer season when this border point is very busy.
The current rates will remain unchanged, and existing exemption categories will be maintained.
It is also expected that the works on the Bulgarian side of the bridge will be completed in June, which will help to ease traffic.
The authorities emphasize their commitment to modernizing infrastructure and implementing digital solutions to facilitate the travels of Romanians.
