Radu Miruță announces the elimination of the bridge toll at Fetești and Vadu Oii with the implementation of the TollRo system

Interim Transport Minister Radu Miruță announced Tuesday evening, in a message posted on Facebook, the elimination of the toll for crossing the Danube over the bridges at Fetești and Vadu Oii. The measure is linked to the implementation of the TollRo tolling system.

“When a new tolling system is introduced, the old toll does not remain as well,” the minister said. According to him, once TollRo is implemented, drivers will no longer pay a separate toll for crossing the bridges at Fetești and Vadu Oii.

Radu Miruță explained that, for trucks, the road charge will be calculated based on the distance traveled and the vehicle’s pollution level. The minister said the model is similar to one already used in 24 other European Union member states.

The announcement concerns the replacement of the current tolling system with a mechanism based on infrastructure use and environmental impact. The public message provided no additional details on the exact implementation schedule or the technical procedures for transitioning to the new system.
