According to a survey conducted by tbi bank, nearly half (49%) of Romanians plan to spend less this Christmas than in previous years, influenced by rising prices that have affected their purchasing power. Approximately 48% of respondents intend to stick to a budget of no more than 500 lei, while only 11% will allocate more money for shopping.

The majority (85%) will use personal savings or previous salaries for expenses, while 15% are considering loans to manage their budget. Romanians are becoming more cautious in managing resources, focusing on necessity and real value, in the context where 32% estimate that gift prices are 30% higher compared to last year. Regarding gifts, 83% are guided by the preferences of their loved ones, and 70% are influenced by discounts. Almost 69% expect to receive fewer gifts, reflecting common financial challenges. The survey was conducted on a sample of 1,011 respondents from Romania.
