In June 2026, inflation in Romania reached 10.4%, down from 10.9% in the previous month, according to Concordia's analysis. This suggests that the peak of inflation has been surpassed, and a rapid decline is expected in the second half of the year, with estimates of 7% in July and 6% by the end of the year.

Services, gas, and energy were the main contributors to inflation, affecting the purchasing power of Romanians, which has decreased by approximately 10% since January 2025.

This erosion of consumer confidence has led to a decline in retail sales. The business environment feels the pressure of decreasing demand, especially in sectors such as retail and HoReCa. It is expected that the decrease in inflation will improve consumer confidence and boost consumption. However, the Romanian economy requires the continuation of reforms and investments to ensure a sustainable recovery.
