The Romanian Army emphasized, in a Facebook post, that the missiles are not launched to save money, but to eliminate dangers that threaten national security.

Military representatives highlighted that questions regarding the cost of the missile used to shoot down drones that have entered Romanian airspace are less relevant than the risks associated with inaction. They compared the use of missiles to the importance of airbags or fire extinguishers, emphasizing that the safety of citizens has no price.

In the last 24 hours, two drones, including one of the Shahed type, have been shot down by the Romanian air forces, marking an important intervention in the defense of airspace. The army mentioned that, so far, there have been no recorded shootdowns of drones that entered national airspace, but they have conducted air policing missions in other countries, such as Estonia.
