The Chief of the General Staff of the Defense, General Gheorghiță Vlad, declared that Romanian soldiers are always ready to defend the country's airspace, emphasizing their professionalism. The statement came after a drone was shot down near Sfântu Gheorghe, the mission being carried out calmly and precisely.
In less than 24 hours, the same F-16 crew intercepted another drone that had entered Romanian airspace. President Nicușor Dan confirmed the incident, mentioning that the drone was shot down 10 kilometers west of the locality, and the interim Minister of Defense, Radu Miruță, specified that the operation took place in safe conditions, in an unpopulated area. The Ministry of National Defense highlighted the importance of these actions for national security.
