The Minister of Investments and European Projects, Dragoș Pîslaru, announced that Romania will ask the European Commission to re-evaluate the payment request amounting to 231 million euros, funds from the PNRR conditional on meeting the milestone regarding the amendment of judges' pensions, which were at risk of being lost.
The minister explained that, after President Nicușor Dan promulgates the law, "Romania will be able to demonstrate that it has fulfilled the reform committed to through the PNRR."
The next step before the law comes into force is its promulgation by the president.
This decision was made in the context in which the Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) declared on Wednesday that the law regarding the reform of special pensions for judges is constitutional. Thus, Romania aims to ensure access to these European funds, essential for implementing reforms in the field of special pensions.
