Romania has lost a lawsuit filed by the pharmaceutical company Pfizer in Belgium, following the Government's refusal to pay for over 20 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. The decision of the first-instance court obliges our country to pay the sum of 600 million euros, equivalent to 28 million doses of vaccine that Romania decided not to purchase anymore.

This situation raises questions regarding the management of vaccine procurement contracts and the financial impact on the national budget. The lawsuit was initiated by Pfizer due to Romania's failure to fulfill its contractual obligations. Further details will be provided as information becomes available.
