Romania has exceeded 60% of the absorption on the PNRR, and on June 5, the approval of the fourth payment request is expected, bringing 3 billion euros into the country.

The Minister of Investments and European Projects, Dragoș Pîslaru, announced that Romania has exceeded 60% of the absorption under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). On June 5, the EcoFin Council will take place, which will approve the fourth payment request, bringing 3 billion euros into the country. Pîslaru emphasized that the government has unlocked the PNRR and has recovered the amounts from the previous payment request.

The current focus is on payment requests five and six, with the hope of having all the necessary technical details by Friday. Regarding reforms, discussions with the European Commission are more complicated in the area of decarbonization, as Romania needs its remaining coal capacities. Pîslaru mentioned that, apart from the reform related to decarbonization, discussions with the Commission have been favorable. The minister was recently in Brussels to renegotiate the completion of the PNRR.
