RO-ALERT message in Tulcea: Russian drones at the border of Romania with Ukraine / Two F-16 aircraft are monitoring the unmanned aerial vehicles.

On the night from Monday to Tuesday, residents of northern Tulcea County received a new RO-ALERT message in the context of the war in Ukraine. At 3:48 AM, the population was informed about the possibility of objects falling from the airspace and was advised to take self-protection measures. Two F-16 aircraft of the Romanian Air Force took off from the 86th Air Base in Fetești to monitor drones flying near the border.

Air defense systems were activated, but no incursions into national airspace were detected. The alert was lifted at 4:45 AM. The Ministry of National Defense reported that, since the beginning of the conflict, there have been nearly 70 attacks near the Romanian-Ukrainian border, with 21 incursions of Russian drones into Romanian airspace.

Additionally, drone fragments have been found on Romanian territory, especially in the northern area of Tulcea County. The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations has issued over 70 extreme alert messages in four counties, most of which were aimed at the population of Tulcea.
