The Ministry of National Defense announced on Sunday, August 30, the detection of an aerial target approximately 20 kilometers east of Vâlcove, in Ukraine, which led to the issuance of a RO-Alert message for the northeast of Tulcea County.
The detection occurred at 10:36, and two F-16 aircraft from the 86th Air Base Borcea were mobilized to monitor the situation. The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations transmitted the alert at 10:50, but no incursions of the target into Romanian airspace were reported.
This is just one of several alerts issued in recent days, against the backdrop of aerial activity near the border with Ukraine. On August 27, RO-Alert messages were transmitted following the detection of aerial targets, and authorities confirmed that there were no incursions into national airspace.
