Residents of northern Tulcea County received a new RO-Alert message on Friday, November 6, at 08:56, after the radars of the Ministry of National Defence detected an aerial target east of Sulina. The target was moving toward Vylkove, Ukraine, near the Romanian border.
Following the detection, the National Military Command Center informed the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, and the population in the targeted area was warned. Two F-16 aircraft of the Romanian Air Force took off from the 86th Borcea Air Base for an air-policing mission.
This is the second alert sent in less than nine hours. The first RO-Alert message had been issued at 00:19, during the Russian attacks on the Ukrainian ports on the Danube, and was withdrawn at 00:41. The Ministry of National Defence stated that no incursions into Romania’s airspace had been reported at that time.
