Authorities issued a new RO-Alert message on Sunday afternoon for northern Tulcea County after the National Military Command Center detected an aerial target approaching the northern area of Romania. Residents were advised to take shelter amid a possible drone incursion.
According to the Tulcea Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the message was sent through the RO-Alert system after the National Military Command Center notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations about the aerial target.
People in the affected area were urged to remain calm and take shelter in basements or civil protection shelters. In the absence of such a space, authorities recommended that they remain inside their homes, away from windows and exterior walls.
The new alert was issued less than two hours after a similar message was sent for eastern Tulcea County. Around 14:00, the radar surveillance system of the Ministry of National Defence had detected an aerial target approximately 30 kilometers east of Snake Island, in Ukrainian airspace. Subsequently, the target disappeared from radar east of Sulina.
