Energy from renewable sources accounted for 26.2% of the total energy consumption of the European Union in 2025, an increase from 25.2% in 2024, according to Eurostat data.
Romania recorded a share of 25.6%, slightly below the European average, while Germany and France reported values of 23.9%. Sweden had the highest share at 65.4%, followed by Finland (53%) and Denmark (48.2%). The lowest values were in Belgium (14.9%) and Slovakia (16.3%). Additionally, renewable sources covered 49.9% of the electricity consumed in the EU, with Romania having a share of 49.87%. The use of renewable sources for heating and cooling increased to 27.4% in 2025, up from 26.7% in 2024.
