The interim Minister of Transport, Radu Miruță, will not approve the proposed budget for 2026 by the National Company for Road Infrastructure Administration (CNAIR), which requests the hiring of over 500 people, including 126 in the central structure, announced Horațiu Cosma, state secretary at Transport from USR.

Cosma says that CNAIR intends to hire 500 people, of which 126 only in the central structure in Bucharest, although new highway and express road projects must be transferred gradually, until 2027, to CNIR – the new company responsible for the development of major infrastructure.

"Logically, as the projects move to CNIR, the central apparatus of CNAIR should gradually reduce. In reality, the exact opposite has happened. In 2024, CNAIR Central had approximately 850 positions. After the transfer of 7 projects to the new company CNIR, the number increased to over 900 by the end of the year. In 2025, 3 more projects were transferred, and the staffing scheme rose to nearly 1,000 positions. Now, after another 6 projects moved to CNIR, the old company is still requesting 126 more hires at the center. Unacceptable," said the state secretary on his Facebook page.

Additionally, Miruță sent the Control Body to CNAIR to verify the financial losses from an arbitration related to the Sebeș-Turda Highway, amounting to 340 million lei.

CNAIR is in an open conflict with the Ministry of Transport due to delays in the transfer of projects and financial losses.
