Radu Miruță, the interim Minister of Transport, stated that the situation of rail transport in Romania is twice as bad as in the last decade, emphasizing the lack of a coherent maintenance plan for the infrastructure.

He highlighted that delays are caused by traffic restrictions and the poor condition of the infrastructure, which requires urgent intervention. Recently, the government adopted a railway infrastructure development strategy for the period 2026-2030, aimed at reducing delays and addressing the salary issues of employees in the field. Miruță emphasized the need for proper allocation of funds and holding state company directors accountable.

He also initiated a selection procedure for specialists for state transport companies, highlighting the importance of professionalism and transparency in resource management.
