Radu Miruță, the interim Minister of Economy and Transport, announced that he will not approve the budget projects of TAROM and CFR Călători, citing estimates that he considers unrealistic and which could lead to additional losses for these state companies.
In the case of TAROM, Miruță emphasized that the budget is based on erroneous assumptions, such as estimating the cost of fuel at 950 euros per ton, while the real price is approximately 1,400 euros. He also criticized the calculations that assume a high occupancy rate of the aircraft, ignoring the reality of empty seats. Regarding CFR Călători, the minister mentioned that the revenues included in the budget are treated as certain, even though they depend on external conditions. Miruță stated that the refusal to approve the budgets will not affect the companies' operations, but rather will prevent the perpetuation of artificial estimates. Although he cannot give direct orders to the management, he can influence decisions through the state's representatives in the general meetings of shareholders.
