A chief officer from the Ploiești Penitentiary is being investigated for multiple acts of bribery and the illegal introduction of prohibited items into the detention unit. According to investigators, he introduced mobile phones, a memory stick, and a heating element into the penitentiary.


In total, the officer is accused of three counts of bribery and two counts of illegal introduction of means of communication, SIM cards, and alcohol. Between July 2024 and April 2025, he received various sums, including 300 euros for a memory stick and 2000 lei for alcohol, which reached an inmate. Currently, the officer has been placed under judicial control, and the investigation continues to clarify all circumstances of the committed offenses.
