On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan emphasized that each case of femicide represents a social tragedy and an alarm signal for the Romanian state. He urged institutions to urgently change their approach so that victims can trust they will receive professional help quickly, without being shuffled from one institution to another. Bolojan highlighted the legislative changes currently being approved, which aim to protect victims and impose harsher penalties on aggressors.

He stressed the importance of rapid actions by institutions for the safety of individuals in danger, stating that stopping aggressors in time can save lives. The Prime Minister also mentioned the need to increase citizens' trust in state institutions and praised the initiative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to amend the law on domestic violence. Bolojan concluded by emphasizing the importance of collaboration between civil society and authorities to ensure a safe and respectful environment for women.
