A priest from Dolj was fined 10,000 lei after creating a dam and changing the course of the Gioroc river to build a fish farm, without requesting any kind of authorization or approval.

Inspectors from the Jiu Craiova Water Directorate discovered the illegalities following information received.

The priest did not obtain the necessary approvals from the Jiu Water Management Service, and the fish farm operates without authorization. He stated that he did not know he needed approvals to introduce fish into the water. The Water Directorate asked him to restore the area to its original state, before the establishment of the fish farm.
