The Municipality of Bucharest (PMB) announced that 103 trees on the banks of Lake Herăstrău will be cut down as part of the works to secure the banks.
The inventory of trees was completed by specialists, identifying 1,600 trees in the work area, of which 103 will be cut down because they are leaning on the edge of the bank, while another 91 will be pruned. PMB has issued the necessary permits, and the works will begin in the coming days. On June 8, PMB marked the trees in the bank protection area for evaluation.
Andreea Răducu, president of the Landscape Architects Association Bucharest-Ilfov branch, mentioned that the trees marked with "X" are for inventory and evaluation, and those that are dead, fallen, or unviable will be removed to prevent risks to citizens and to rehabilitate the bank. PMB collaborates with the contractor and the beneficiary to protect and conserve healthy trees.
