The National Company Bucharest Airports (CNAB) announced that the "Henri Coandă" Otopeni and Băneasa airports will benefit from integrated systems for detection, identification, tracking, and neutralization of drones (C-UAS), which will operate continuously.
Currently, CNAB has launched a market consultation to assess the maintenance and repair costs of these systems during the 24-month warranty period and post-warranty. The C-UAS systems will need to operate effectively in any weather conditions and ensure the surveillance of the airspace around the airports. These equipment will include non-kinetic and kinetic neutralization methods.
The consultation ends on September 9, in the context of recent incidents involving drones at European airports, including an incident related to Russia at Leipzig/Halle Airport, described by German authorities as a "hybrid attack scenario".
