Oana Ţoiu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, stated that NATO allies, apart from the United States, will send new troops and equipment to Romania in the coming months. She explained that the announcement of the partial withdrawal of the American military presence was misrepresented by a publication in Ukraine, emphasizing that no country can communicate the decisions of others.
Although the withdrawal of nearly a thousand American soldiers will not affect the Romanian-American strategic partnership, Ţoiu mentioned that discussions are ongoing regarding ways to strengthen defense and deterrence capabilities, with a focus on air defense. She reaffirmed that the relationship with the USA is based on trust and that the partnership is solid. Additionally, Ţoiu criticized the PSD's reaction to the announcement of the withdrawal, accusing the social democrats of politicizing the situation.
