Dragos Pislaru, the Minister of Investments and European Projects, commented on the absence of President Nicusor Dan from the World Economic Forum in Davos, mentioning that he was not the only high-ranking leader absent. Pislaru suggested that Dan's presence could have generated pressure for quick decisions, which Romania does not consider necessary. He also emphasized that, in the past, the absence of the Romanian delegation was not a topic of discussion, but now, when a delegation was sent, criticisms arose.
The minister mentioned that other leaders, such as the Spanish Prime Minister, also decided not to participate due to international pressures. Regarding the expenses of the delegation, Pislaru stated that Romania had one of the most economical representations in Davos, with accommodation costing about 450 Swiss francs, given that usual prices were much higher. He highlighted the importance of better preparation for future participations, with clear objectives in mind.
